- After I join, what are my pledge requirements?
You are only required to make a $50 pledge at the end of the year to a charity of your choice. But obviously, the more pledges you collect, the more you raise for your cause and the more you're inspired to ride.
- What is the min. sponsor pledge?
The minimum for each of your sponsors to pledge is $50. That's 1000 miles at .05 per mile.
- How do I know that 100% of my and my sponsors' pledges go to the charities we choose?
Once we collect your pledges and send 100% of them to your charity or charities, we can send varification of the donation if requested.
- How many different charities can I ride for or send to?
You can ride for as many charities as you have sponsors. If you have three sponsors, each can have a different charity. You can also ride for just one charity. Then all your sponsors' pledges go to that one charity.
Back to Questions
- Can I raise money for a charity ride?
Yes! Simply add the charity ride as a charity and we will send all of the money raised to the charity ride.
- How can you operate sending 100% collected to charities?
First of all, all our staff members are volunteers. Your one time $25 membership fee goes towards paying our costs which are primarily website, printing, accounting, postage, rider patches, and promotional services.
- What if my sponsors or myself want to pay per month rather than after the end of the year?
We are set up on an annual basis because our miles and pledges are gathered on a annual basis. If you or your sponsor has over a $1,000 pledged, then we can make special arrangements to accept the donor's money before year end for tax or financial planning purposes. Everyone else needs to wait until the year-end when all the miles are totaled to receive their pledge statements and those pay off.
Back to Questions
- When do the sponsor pledge statements go out?
After the end of the year all riders' miles X pledges are sent to the sponsors who made the pledges on behalf of the rider. We will send out sponsor's pledges statements Jan. 15 of the following year.
- When do the charities get paid?
Once we collect your sponsors' pledges, we will send all your pledges collected to the charities you chose by March 1.
- What is Riding For A Cause's tax status?
We are registered with the State of North Carolina as a non-profit corporation. We have submitted our application for 501 C 3 non-profit status. Any pledges paid or sponsorship donations will be tax exempt.
Back to Questions
- How do I find and enter sponsors?
First of all, sponsor yourself for something you believe in. Then, collect pledges from family, friends, and businesses you have relations with. Most people are more than willing to help out when they know what you're doing and why you're doing it. Enter your sponsors name, address, and pledge online under your rider home page. Also, potential sponsors can find you online to pledge for you, so make your profile as attractive as possible.
- Why don't my pledge totals equal the number of miles I have logged?
As the caps are reached for each sponsor and new sponsor added- the total amount you are riding for will vary so it will be difficult for you to see the exact amount you are riding for. The good thing is - we are keeping up with all of this for you.
